The Arnal Boys 11h Annual Memorial 3 on 3 Hockey Tournament was held on Saturday and Sunday, February 14th and 15th at the Eastend Rink Complex and featured some great and entertaining hockey action.
There were 7 teams in total entered in only two categories this year, Runts (12 years old and under) and Crocks (adults), but there was still plenty of hockey action to take in on the two-day event. The Eastend Rink was a busy place the entire weekend with players and spectators.
There were only two teams in the Runts event, so three games were played, and on Sunday afternoon the winning team was honoured with the trophy.
This year the live auction was held at the rink. Olivia welcomed everyone and thanked all the participants and spectators for their continued support.
Anne gave everyone a brief update on the projects that had received bursaries last year with all being successful. Olivia also thanked everyone for their great and continued support in providing bursaries to some hard working and well deserving youth to pursue their own agricultural businesses. Congratulations to all recipients and good luck with your continuing business plans.
Chantel thanked everyone who participated in this year’s event and all the workers and spectators who came out to give their support. Also, a big thank you to all the sponsors and to Auctioneer, Donnie Peacock who was on hand and did a great job of auctioning off the 39 great items donated, with some wonderful participation from the crowd. The total raised from the live auction was $28,805.00.
The final games, which were held on Sunday afternoon, were fast paced and very exciting with a good turnout of spectators. You could tell that all teams played hard and were out to win.
The booth at the rink was very busy on the two days with some great food to keep everyone well fed.
Anne Arnal and her family, girls, Chantal and Olivia and son, Dylan, along with their families, worked tirelessly the entire weekend to honour the boys, Blake, Sean and Lyndon.
The goal of the weekend was to raise funds for the Arnal Boys Bursary but the main focus was to just have fun; and everyone did.
A great big thank you to the many others who were involved in the behind-the-scene preparation; with your help and support this weekend turned out to be a wonderful tribute to the boys. With so much enthusiasm for this event, and great support from everyone in the southwest, we look forward to next year’s tourney.
