Jr. Shadows claim SWAC title

The Shaunavon Jr. Shadows defeated Ecole Centennial School 67-59 in a hard-fought battle to claim the SWAC league championship title.

The game was played at SHS gym on Thursday, Feb. 26.

Briley Podolski led Shaunavon’s offence with 22 points. Coy Smith added

18 points for the Jr. Shadows.

Alex Liu scored 18 points for Centennial to lead their offence.

“The game was one of the best all season,” said Jr. Shadows coach Bonnie Lingenfelter. “The score was always within four points and then in the fourth quarter the boys just found their rhythm and pulled it off.”

Lingenfelter said the Shadows enjoyed a good season with plenty of improvement shown throughout the year.

“The season was great,” offered Lingenfelter. “We had some players just learning the sport which gave our experienced players the opportunity to teach and support one another. The boys played superb as a team.”
