Good turnout for Braydon Coburn Summer Hockey School

The Braydon Coburn Summer Hockey School wrapped up another successful year with a strong turnout of young athletes and top-tier instruction.

Running from July 20 to 24, this year’s camp drew 87 registered players, maintaining the consistently high  attendance numbers of previous years.

“I think things ran pretty smoothly this year,” said Ryan Wallis, a member of the school’s organizing committee. “We’ve had nothing but good feedback from people.”

Over the years, the committee has streamlined the program into a highly efficient event designed to maximize player development.

To elevate this year’s curriculum, the group recruited new partnerships with three distinct hockey programs: twenty-six Hockey, TRU Hockey, and goaltending specialist Greg Klevgaard.

The morning sessions were spearheaded by Dyson Stevenson and Nolan Stevenson of twenty-six Hockey.

Afternoon ice times were led by TRU Hockey’s Craig Cuthbert alongside former NHLer Zack Smith, while Klevgaard provided instruction for the goaltenders.

They were supported by camp veterans Andrew Johnston and Greg Coburn, both of whom have been with the program since its inception.

A dedicated group of young local helpers also provided assistance throughout the week.

This year’s student helpers included Grace Lingenfelter, Kali Nelson, Connor Aldag, Blakely Wallis, Benson Wallis, Gavin Haldeman, Jory Balas, Phil Lewans, and Daniel Ruetz.

“One of the cool things about the school is that we have young students who age out of the program and return to become our helpers,” Wallis noted.

Off-ice dryland training sessions were directed by Kinae Wallis.
