It seems appropriate that the Trivia Night event in Shaunavon earlier this month enjoyed a record turnout.
After all, records and trivia go hand-in-hand.
The most recent installment of the event saw the Second Chances team, comprised of Grant Selvig, Terry Shields, Finn Stoll and Andrew Stoll, claim the title.
The group didn’t require any second chances while answering 33 of the 40 questions that were posed to the assembled players.
Meanwhile, two other teams – Table for One and Bubly – finished in a second place tie with 28 points each. The tiebreaker was decided by a Family Feud style contest, won by the Table for One squad.
A tie-breaker was also needed for the last place position. In this case three teams finished with 20 points each, before competing in a ‘Heads or Tails’ showdown to decide the ultimate “loser”.
It marked the third time a Trivia Night had been organized through the Me Time Shaunavon initiative and the event continues to build on its growing reputation. This year there were 12 teams entered – up from 8 in 2025. Each team was permitted to have a maximum of six players, and most teams took advantage of that limit. In total, more than 60 players took part, an increase of at least a dozen from last year’s gathering.
There were four rounds of 10 questions each, covering an assortment of trivia aimed at generations from Boomers to Gen Z. Topics ranged from pop culture and music to headlines and slang.
“It was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves,” offered Joanne Gregoire, one of the event organizers. “We were very pleased with the turnout and we had a significant increase in the number of participants this year.”
Anna Robertson served as the Trivia Night game host, while Alexis Hunt handled the technical details. Joanne Gregoire served as emcee and assisted with the game, along with Tammy Willman, Jane Barkley, Anne Bennett and Mary Scott. Sponsors for the evening included Centre Street United Church, which has been sponsoring Me Time events, along with Ranch House Meats and 2 for 1 Family Pizza.
The Trivia Night event was held May 7 at The Bridge.
The final Me Time event before the summer break will be a Task Master challenge.
