Dog Days of Summer

The Shaunavon Fire Department’s annual hot dog fundraiser on Friday, June 26, recorded a strong turnout, raising significant funds for local emergency services.

Organizers reported that nearly 500 hot dogs were served throughout the day. Demand was so high, in fact, that community members once again began arriving ahead of the scheduled start time, and firefighters actually served customers before the event was officially set to begin.

In the end, the initiative raised $2,209, with all proceeds earmarked for general fire department programming.

The event was also well-supported by local firefighters with a large contingent of members volunteering their time to assist with the barbecue.

The sale once again received significant support from local businesses, including the Canalta Hotel, which donated the buns, and the Pioneer Co-op, which contributed $250 towards the purchase of hot dogs.

Leona’s Baked Goods, located next door to the fire hall, also continued its annual program connected with the event. Leona’s donated $1 from every doughnut sold during the day, resulting in a $200 contribution to the cause.

Representatives from the Shaunavon Fire Department expressed their gratitude to the local businesses, volunteers, and residents whose support contributed to the success of the fundraiser.
