Museum Market continues to get the crowds in Shaunavon

Summer may be winding down, but the enthusiasm for a local summertime activity remains high.

The Grand Coteau Centre’s Market at the Museum, which runs every Saturday morning through the summer months, continues to draw steady crowds and a variety of vendors.

“We’ve had consistently good turnouts throughout the summer,” offered Joanne Gregoire, Director of the Grand Coteau Centre. “We’ve averaged around 160 to 170 people each week, although we had as many as 247 visitors on one of the Saturdays.”

The numbers are actually being tracked this year using a manual clicker.

Featuring a rotating selection of vendors, fresh baked goods, garden produce, crafts and charitable programs and projects, the Saturday morning gatherings seem to grow in popularity year to year.

A highlight of this summer’s market has been the inclusion of local youth showcasing their talents and goods.

“It’s been especially fun to work with the young entrepreneurs,” stated Gregoire. “They have been terrific.”

The markets will continue until at least September 19 when organizers will host a special “Travel the World – a Celebration of Culture” themed Market as part of Culture Days and the community’s Fly, Ride, Drive event.
