New picnic tables for Shaunavon’s Grand Coteau Centre

The front lawn of the Grand Coteau Heritage & Cultural Centre (GCHCC) features a fresh look following the installation of four new, eco-friendly picnic tables designed to enhance community accessibility.

The front lawn of the local cultural facility serves as a community gathering spot, hosting seasonal outdoor events and providing a regular rest and lunch stop for both residents and visitors.

The new additions are part of a broader, ongoing plan to beautify the facility’s green space while making it inclusive for all users.

The project received a significant boost from a $5,000 Affinity Credit Union grant, with additional financial backing provided by the Town of Shaunavon.

Engineered for durability, all four tables are manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, making them weather-resistant and low-maintenance.

To ensure universal access, two rectangular tables placed on the front lawn are fully wheelchair accessible. Additionally, two round tables have been installed on the concrete pad adjacent to the musical playground to expand the area’s overall seating capacity.

The assembly of the new tables was completed through local volunteer efforts, led by GCHCC board member Robert Anderson and his family.
